Nell J. Wright

Nell J. Wright, 89, of Leola, formerly of New Holland, died on Friday November 6th, 2015, at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Caretta, WV, she was the daughter of the late David A. and Pearl (Roten) Jones. Having been raised in Marion, VA, she was always a southern girl at heart. Her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert E. Wright, died in 2006.

Her first years in New Holland were spent working at New Holland Machine Company, and later she worked for 20 years as Executive Secretary for New Holland Farmers National Bank. She finished her career in partnership with her husband at Snelling and Snelling Employment Agency.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Business and Professional Woman’s Club of New Holland.

Surviving is a daughter, Linda Taylor of Leola; a son, David E., married to Dr. Debbie Wright of Waconia, MN; and six grandchildren, Dr. Abe married to Rachel Taylor; Mary, married to Dan Walters; Tessa, married to Matt Martinez; Hannah Taylor and her partner Shannon Elliott; Dr. Susie, married to Dave Johns; and Jack Taylor. There are seven great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is a brother, L. Wayne Jones and her Son-in-Law, Dr. Fred Taylor.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10th, at 10:30am at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Ray Voran as officiant. Interment will be in the Evangelical United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-10:30. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Hwy. East, Lancaster, PA 17602, where she adopted her dear friend and companion, Allie Mae.
