Norman "Norm" Ziemer, Jr.

Norm Ziemer, Jr. passed away peacefully at Garden Spot Village on Monday, June 1 at the age of 91. He was the devoted and loving husband of Janet Sensenig Ziemer. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 24th. He was the son of Norman and Cora Rutter Ziemer.

He was a long-time member of the EUM Church in New Holland. He also attended St. Stephen’s Reformed Church in New Holland and after moving to Garden Spot Village, he attended and later joined the Community Church there.

He was employed for 50 years as a heavy equipment operator for McMinn’s Asphalt Co.

He loved the outdoors and was a long-time member of East End Gun Club in Lycoming County and hunted there for many years.

After retirement, he and Janet enjoyed traveling on bus trips throughout the United States and Canada. He cherished many happy years at the family cabin in Waterville, Lycoming County.

He is survived by his wife Janet, son Bradley Ziemer and wife Phyllis, his granddaughter Ashley Ziemer, and a brother-in-law Carl Sensenig and wife Holly.

He was preceded in death by his son Craig Ziemer, a brother Lester Ziemer and wife Grace, sister Clara and husband George Maxwell, sister Grace and husband Robert Habalar, sister Mildred and husband Morris Boley, and a brother-in-law James Carson and wife Julianne.

In keeping with his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Our family is truly grateful for the excellent care Norm received while in skilled nursing at Garden Spot Village.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557. The Groff-High Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ziemer family.
