Olga B. Dutzer

Olga B. Dutzer, 91 of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Garden Spot Village, after a brief illness.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Aina (Akerblom) Bitler. Her husband, Michael John Dutzer, died in 1996.

Olga was a graduate of the Birdsboro High School and Albright College in 1942 with honors and a full scholarship. She later received her Masters degree at Drexel University in Home Economics. She retired in 1993 after 35 years of teaching Home Economics and serving as department chair at Conestoga High School in Berwyn, PA.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland and sang in the church choir and gospel choir at Messiah Lutheran Church in Broomall. She volunteered at the Trading Post in Paoli and started Home Economics in Birdsboro. She also enjoyed gourmet cooking, family gatherings and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen D., married to Roger Hontz of Holland, PA, and Karol D., married to Dr. Jeffrey L. Cook of Centerville, DE; a grandson, Gavin, married to Julie L. Hontz; three granddaughters, Dr. Blair Hontz Bassett, Erin Elizabeth Cook, and Whitney Lane Cook; a sister, Edith James of New Holland; and three brothers, William Bitler of Douglasville, Leonard Bitler of Birdsboro, and Ralph Bitler of New Holland.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 11 am at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with the Reverend David Klepper officiating. Interment will be in the Birdsboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11 am at the Chapel. If desired contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E.
