Owen H. Powell, 79, of 3180 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, formerly of New Holland, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester after a brief illness.
Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late Charles H. and Pamelia (Pacquin) Powell. He was married 60 years on April 21 to Caroline E. (Wike) Powell.
Owen retired in 1991, after 20 years, from PECO as a Meter Reader. He also retired from the United States Air Force as Staff Sergeant after service in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Living God Lutheran Church in Honey Brook and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Ann, married to Donald Fairthorne of Enfield, CT, Lawrence, married to Mary Powell of Coatesville, Pamela, married to Ernest Mattson of Honey Brook, James, married to Sandy Powell of Parkesburg, Tammy, married to Fred Spencer of Coatesville, and Owen Powell, Jr., of Clearwater, FL; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a sister, Bella, married to Joseph Urban of Lancaster; and a brother, Lewis, married to Faye Powell of Lancaster.
Preceding him in death is a son, Robert Powell; a brother, Charles Powell; and two sisters, Elizabeth Stoltzfus, and Lorraine Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 10 am at the Living God Lutheran Church, 3200 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook with the Reverend Richard Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville. Viewing will be held at the Church on Saturday from 9 – 10 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Neighborhood Hospice 400 E.
