Phyllis Claire (Meyer) Haskins,71, died June 20, 2025 in Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, PA. She was born October 5, 1953 in Coatesville, PA to Earl L. and Phyllis (Keen) Meyer, Sr. She was the second oldest of seven siblings: Earl Jr., Carol, Jonathan, Paul, Patricia and Timothy.
She graduated from John Bartram High School in 1972 and completed coursework at Palmer School to become a geriatric assistant. She worked a number of years at Elwyn Institute in Philadelphia.
Phyllis’ faith was central to her life. She read her Bible daily, filled numerous notebooks with Scripture passages, and attended church regularly. She was a member of Diamond St. Mennonite Church and West Philadelphia Mennonite Fellowship while living in Philadelphia, PA. In later years, she attended Welsh Mountain Mennonite Church and Petra Church.
She enjoyed reading, singing in the Diamond St. Mennonite Choir, listening to Christian music, doing puzzles, playing Scrabble, and telling jokes. She also had a great love for cats. She was a friend to many and was quick to offer her help to anyone needing a hand. She was a kind and generous person.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Paul and Timothy, and her husband, William Callagham, and her caregivers, Miriam and Luke Stoltzfus. She is survived by her siblings, Earl Meyer, Jr., Carol Meyer, Jonathan Meyer and Patricia Hourigan.
A Memorial Service for Phyllis will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, beginning at 4:00 PM, at West Philadelphia Mennonite Fellowship, 123 South 51st Street Philadelphia, PA 19139.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA.
