R. George Burkholder

R. George Burkholder, 78, of New Holland, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018.

He was married 60 years to Dorothy L. Kauffman Burkholder. Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Grace Witwer Burkholder.

George was self-employed for many years in sales and service of lawn and garden equipment. Prior to that he had worked at Allen G. Musser in Bowmansville for 30 years. He was a member of the Bridgeville E. C. Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the computer.

Surviving besides his wife is a son, Wilmer L. husband of Lisa Groff Burkholder of Bowmansville; two daughters, Shirley A. Burkholder of New Holland, and Linda J. wife of Karl Beckett of Denver; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four sisters, Catharine Messner of East Earl, Grace Brubaker of Lancaster, Helen Messner of East Earl, and Ruth wife of Melvin Hornberger of East Earl; two sister-in-laws, Laverne Burkholder, and Pauline Burkholder both of Ephrata. He was preceded in death by brothers D. Leroy and James Burkholder.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Groff High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. Services and interment in the Bridgeville E. C. Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Burkholder’s memory may be made to the Bridgeville E. C. Cemetery, 5971 Division Highway, Narvon, PA 17555.
