Rachel S. Smoker

Rachel S. Smoker, 79, of New Holland, died Thursday, September 10, 2026, at home. Her husband, David A. Smoker, preceded her in death in 2024.

Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Phares W. and Margie (Stahl) Martin.

Rachel was a seamstress, working in Blue Ball, Hinkletown, and Mekes sewing factories. She was later in the salad department at Yoders Restaurant for 12 years.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family. Rachel’s family was her pride and joy; she always loved the family gatherings and providing a meal for everyone. She will be remembered for her quiet strength and devotion to her family.

Surviving are three daughters: Margie A. Nickle, Cathy A. married to Korey Umble and Stacy L. married to David Richardson, six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and three siblings: Ernest married to Edna Martin, Arlene Martin and Mae Martin.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Umble and four siblings, Roy Martin, Arthur Martin, Nevin Martin, Erma Martin and Lester Martin.
