Ray A. Wolfe, 81, of New Holland, passed away peacefully May 25, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Blue Ball on October 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Rollin Wolfe and Helen Shirk Wolfe. He is survived by his wife, May Lou (Wyble) Wolfe whom he married in 1963.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Kimberly A., married to Scott A. Fake of Lititz; two grandchildren, Bethany Wolfe and Addison Wolfe; three step grandchildren, Gage Fake, Coleen Armstrong, and Cora Fake; a step great grandson, Landon Armstrong; a daughter in law, Deanne Wolfe Stoltzfus of Leola; a sister, Geraldine McCarty; and nieces and a nephew.
Preceding him in death is a son, Todd A. Wolfe.
He was a graduate of the New Holland High School in 1952, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland where he served as an usher.
He owned and operated Wolfe’s Amoco West End Service Station in New Holland for 21 years and worked for father Rollin Wolfe for 16 years prior to buying the business which was started in 1936 as a Texaco and closed in 1991. He continued the wash and wax part of his business from his home for quite a few years after that.
He served in the U.S. Army in the following: C Battery 84th FA Battalion 9th Infantry Division; HQ and SVC Btry 2nd Misl BN Honest John Sp 77th Arty assembling the Honest John Rockets and firing; and Company B 720th MP BN military police.
He enjoyed the years he worked serving the public and getting to know many people in his hometown. He also enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, working on cars and tractors, nature and wildlife, and cutting wood.
