Raymond O. Martin

Raymond O. Martin, 77, of 1988 N. Churchtown Rd., East Earl died Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his home. His wife of 57 years, Verna Z. (Horning) Martin, survives.


Born in Ephrata Twp., he was the son of the late Moses Weaver and Lizzie Nolt (Oberholtzer) Martin.


Raymond was self-employed for 25 years repairing electric motors. He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.


Surviving in addition to his wife are three children: Linda F. married to John G. Good, East Earl; Glen R. married to Lorene (Hurst) Martin, Jonestown; Elvin L. married to Vera (Stauffer) Martin, Newmanstown; 25 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; six siblings: Willis married to Edna (Zimmerman) Martin, Arbela, MO; Irvin married to Ella Mae (Redcay) Martin, Lebanon; Reuben married to Joann (Brubaker) Martin, Myerstown; Moses married to Anna Mary (Horst) Martin, Myerstown; Elsie married to Benjamin Shirk, New Holland; Erma married to Ivan High, Gorin, MO.


He was preceded in death by four infants and six siblings: Martha Martin, Mary High, Lloyd Martin, Lester Martin, Allen Martin, and Henry Martin.


His funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the Martindale Fellowship Center with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman, Nathan Martin, Marlin Lauver, Leon B. Zimmerman, and John Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Martindale Fellowship Center. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
