Reynold A. Ovensen

Reynold A. Ovensen, 87, formerly of New Holland, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Ephrata Manor after a brief illness.

Born in Staten Island, NY he was a son of the late Lars and Kaia (Eikenes) Ovensen. His wife, Betty Lou (Overly) Ovensen, died Oct. 28, 2006.

He was the last of his immediate family. Surviving is a daughter, Lindy, married to Kevin Vereide of Westerville, OH; a son, Al, married to Kimberly (Ditzler) Ovensen of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a grandson, Matthew Ovensen.

Reynold worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for Weaver Poultry, now Tyson, in New Holland, for many years, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of Ephrata.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31 at 11 am at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland, with the Reverend Dr. Frank Rice officiating. Viewing will precede the funeral, on Thursday, from 10 – 11 am. Interment will be in Ranck’s United Methodist Cemetery.
