Richard Harrington Forbes

Richard Harrington Forbes, 61, of 328 E. Jackson St., New Holland went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital emergency room.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Sarah (Harrington) Forbes of Downingtown and the late Richard H. Forbes.

Richard was a cabinetmaker by trade. He also taught karate to children in the New Holland area for a number of years.

He was a great Phillies and Eagles fan, enjoyed boating, and was a good teacher and leader to his family. He was a drummer in his younger years, playing with bands from time to time.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children: Shannon Christine married to Sidney Young, Ephrata and Ryan Harrington married to Caitlyn Forbes, New Holland; five grandchildren: Jordan Robert Kellander, Brandon Richard Kellander, Damon Ryan Leisey, Dylan Randall Leisey, Cayden Harrington Forbes; a great-grandson Elijah John Kellander; four siblings: Rhonda married to Louie Mascherino, Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert married to Carol Forbes, Downingtown, Roger Forbes, Coatesville, Pamela Forbes Robinson, Delaware; his former wife Cindy A. Forbes, Ephrata and former son-in-law Randy Leisey, Ephrata.

At Richard’s request, his funeral service will be private. Interment will be in Petra Memorial Park. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
