Richard Wilson Oliver

Richard Wilson Oliver, 96, went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Avis (Lane) Oliver who passed away in August of 2020.

Rich, born in Philadelphia, was the son of the late Randolph D. and Henrietta (Green) Oliver. He grew up in Aldan, PA.

Upon graduating from Upper Darby High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. At the end of World War II, he enrolled and graduated from Temple University with a degree in business. He spent many years working in the insurance industry, retiring as President of National Liberty Life Insurance Co. He was active in churches he attended, serving on church councils, missions committees and other ministry roles. He and his wife Avis moved to Garden Spot Village in 1997 and were active at Community Church there. He volunteered in many ways during his years at Garden Spot. Rich enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, music, and vacations in Ocean City, New Jersey, but his greatest joy was his large and loving family.

Surviving are three children, Janet (David) Smyth, West Chester, PA, Linda (Russ) Nixon, West Chester, PA and Rick (Kathy) Oliver, Westford, MA and nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol McGoldrick.

A memorial service to celebrate his long and loving life will be held at Garden Spot Village Chapel on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends at 10:00 am in the Chapel.
