Richard W. Schaeffer

Richard W. Schaeffer, Jr., 79, of Lititz, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. His wife of 55 years, Helen L. (Friedly) Schaeffer, survives.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Richard W., Sr. and Miriam N. (Lewis) Schaeffer.

Richard served in the Army from 1956 to 1959, including 18 months in Korea and 3 years inactive reserve. He volunteered with the Reamstown Fire Company in the late 1960’s.

His profession was as an auto body/paint technician. He owned Dick’s Auto Body Shop in Ephrata from 1979 to 1983. He retired from Simon Ladder Towers in 1996.

He was a member of Son Light Bible Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Dr. Richard W. Schaeffer, III (JoAnn Nahm) and Daniel R. Schaeffer (Susan Allen); and two granddaughters: Rachel Schaeffer-Byler (Josh Byler) and Danielle Schaeffer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Son Light Bible Church, 2503 Oregon Pike, Lancaster with Pastor Michael Nolt officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
