Richard A. Tshudy, 85, of 1160 Farm Crest Dr., Ephrata, formerly of New Holland, died Monday, June 18 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane L. (Hammond) Tshudy in 2006.
Born in Leacock, PA., he was the son of the late Chester and Elsie (Houck) Tshudy.
Richard was a barber, operating Tshudy’s Barber Shop in New Holland for many years.
During World War II, he served in the Navy as an Electrician’s Mate.
He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist church and enjoyed hunting, wood working in the basement shop and collecting Indian artifacts.
Surviving are two sons: Terry R. Tshudy, Lititz and Michael married to Debra S. (Heistand) Tshudy, New Holland; two granddaughters: Quinn Tshudy and Bevalee Anne Tshudy; a grandson, Tegan Adam Tshudy; and a sister Jean Adams, East Earl.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William “Bill” Tshudy and Robert “Bob” Tshudy.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 10:30 AM at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 276 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Ray Voran officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 6:30 – 8:30 PM and on Thursday from 10 – 10:30 AM. Kindly omit flowers. If desired, memorials may be made to Evangelical United Methodist Church. The Beck Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
