Robert D. Burns

Robert D. Burns, 86, of New Holland, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Rosene M. (Geist) Burns.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Helen E. (Weyant) Burns.

He started his career at the former New Holland Machine Company and continued his employment there through several ownership changes, eventually retiring from CNH after 37 years of service.

He had served in the U. S. Navy.

A member of Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, he enjoyed hunting, yard work, woodworking, and old cars, especially his 1947 Ford. He was also a member of the Charles E. Ludwig Post #7362, VFW, New Holland.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Ryan R. Burns, Vero Beach, FL and Ragen V. married to Deb Burns, New Holland as well as 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: Zachary Burns, Tyler Burns and Gillian Lyons and their son Tyler, Jr.; Ashley Burns and her children, Cohen, Ava, and Willow; Cortney Burns and her daughter Jadea; Allison and Richard Hepbron and their children Abbie, Liam, Josie; Jarred Burns and Tara Reinhart and their children Harper and Lily; Justin and Kirsten Burns and their children Emmersen and Harlan; and Kate and Matt Townsley and their children Riley and Cole.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Burns and a sister Phyllis Keller.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, 2555 Horseshoe Rd., Lancaster with Pastor Bruce Tulley officiating.
