Robert R. “Bob” Dippner, Sr., 86, of Narvon, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late George J. and Cora Mae (Groff) Dippner. He was married 64 years on January 1 to Odella (Spade) Dippner.
Bob worked as a carpenter most of his life, most recently at Musselman Lumber, retiring in 1989. During WWII he served in the US Navy.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Holland and enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and History. He was loved by all and he loved all and touched many with his gift of learning scripture. He had a deep love of the Lord and enjoyed sharing that love with others.
Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children, Katherine, married to Ken Brendle of Narvon, George Amos, married to Linda (Axe) Dippner of New Holland, Robert R., Jr., married to Jody (Landis) Dippner of Blue Ball, Faith E., married to Keith Miller of Denver, Nathan J., married to Cheryl (Herr) Dippner of New Holland, Philip A. Dippner of New Holland, Carol A. Franklin and her fiancé Galen Taylor of Morgantown, and David A. Dippner of New Holland; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; a brother, George J., Jr., married to Gerry (Trego) Dippner of Gap; and three sisters, Betty Cummings of Kinzers; Pat Rohrer of Strasburg, and Shirley, married to Melvin Martin of Gap.
Preceding him in death is a daughter, Mercy Dawn Dippner; a granddaughter, Bobby Jo Dippner; a grandson, William Joel Rhen; two sisters, Virginia Yates and Emily Dippner; two brothers, Charles and Donald Dippner; and a daughter-in-law, Tara Dippner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2 at 10 am at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Tim Allen officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday 9-10 am at the Groff-High Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Zerbe Sisters Employee Recognition Fund, 2499 Zerbe Road, Narvon, PA 17555.
