Robert Winfield Kessler, 89, a lifelong resident of Bowmansville, died Tuesday, August 21 at Ephrata Community Hospital.
Born in Bowmansville, he was the son of the late Adam and Elsie (Harting) Kessler.
Following graduation from New Holland High School, he served in the Army during World War II with Darby’s Rangers Co. F 3rd Battalion.
He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and was active in various Masonic organizations.
He had been employed for 47 years at the former Frank Ix & Sons Silk Mill.
Surviving is a sister, Marguerite Hunchberger, Hershey; two nieces: Cosette Rhodes, Hummelstown and Kay Lingle, Lancaster; a nephew Robert H. Kessler, Leola; a grand nephew Gregory Rhodes and a grand niece Wendy Lingle.
He was preceded in death by a brother A. Clair Kessler and by a twin brother.
His service will be held on Monday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bowmansville Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a social hour at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the graveside service. Kindly omit flowers.
