Robert Kipp Halpin, 61, of 521 E. Conestoga St., New Holland, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 21. His wife, Sandra K. (Wright) Halpin, survives. They had been married for 17 years on February 14.
Born in Rockville Center, Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late James F. and Joan (Cornell) Halpin.
He graduated in 1977 from Elizabethtown College and later obtained his Master’s Degree from Millersville University. He was a teacher in the Conestoga Valley School District from 1978-2010, teaching at both Smoketown and Brownstown Elementary Schools.
Kipp was a member and road captain of the American Legion Riders, a lifetime member of Sons of the American Legion Post 662, New Holland, an avid hunter and PSU fan. All who knew Kipp new he gave his time to all, but he had unending devotion as a husband, father, and friend.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Aimee M. Halpin, Zachariah J Halpin, fiancé of Kelsey Robinson, Briann N. Halpin, Michael Cole Halpin, and Kendra J. Halpin; and a brother, James married to Beverly (Waldrop) Halpin, Jim Thorpe.
The family will receive guests at St. John’s Center U.C.C., 432 Reading Rd., East Earl on Sunday, October 25 from 2 – 5 p.m. followed by a short service at 5 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a further celebration of Kipp’s life from 6 – 8 p.m. at the American Legion Post 662, 35 S.
