Robert L. Rice

Robert L. Rice, 63, of New Holland, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Lancaster General Hospital after a lengthy battle with Metastatic Prostate Cancer.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Marie (Gockley) Rice of Denver and the late Herbert Rice. He was married 39 years on April 28 to Flo (Allwine) Rice.

Robert worked as a mechanical drafter/designer for 37 years at CNH in New Holland, two years at Aerotek in York, and for the past two years for EASi in New Holland.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and he enjoyed playing the Bagpipe, studying genealogy, and hiking. During the Vietnam Era he served his country in the US Army.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother is a son, Eric, married to Lisa (Meisner) Rice of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Emily, married to Joe Keen of Loveland, CO, and Ellen, married to Kevin Martin of Wilmington, DE; four grandchildren, Calista and Madilyn Rice, Willow Keen, and Sofia Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water St., New Holland with the Reverend Fr. Pang J.S. Tcheou officiating. All those attending mass are welcome to a luncheon immediately after mass. Interment will be at a later date at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Church on Tuesday from 10-11 am.
