Robert O. Tshudy, 86, of 220 Locust St., New Holland, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Honey Brook, he was the son of the late William C. and Sarah Elsie (Houck) Tshudy. He celebrated 64 years of marriage on July 4 to Dora Elizabeth “Betty” (Shirk) Tshudy. Bob was a welder all his life retiring in 1985 after 35 years of service with Sperry New Holland, now CNH. He was a member of the Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational Church, endowment life member of the National Rifle Association, life member of New Holland VFW Post 7362, and a life member of the New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club. He was an avid turkey and deer hunter, an avid gun enthusiast, and he enjoyed spending time at his Clinton County cabin. During WWII he served in the US Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith 3rd class CASU-13 and CASU-33. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Susan, married to Robert Gabriel of Brickerville, Ron Tshudy and his partner, Shestin Hiam of Terre Hill, and Jeff, married to Cindy (McCamant) Tshudy of Ephrata; three grandchildren, Kelly and Kevin Tshudy, and Everett Johnson; two great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Maser) Tshudy of Leola; a brother, Richard “Dick” Tshudy of Ephrata; and a sister, Jean Adams of East Earl. Preceding him in death is a son, Bob, Jr. in March 2006; and a brother, William Tshudy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at 2 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Philip Walck officiating. Interment will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 1-2 pm.
