Ronald J. Burkholder, 61, passed away at his home in Harrisburg, PA on August 14, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
Born in New Holland, he was the son of Pauline (Martin) Burkholder of East Earl and the late James W. Burkholder, and the husband of Pam Graybill Burkholder.
In addition to his mother and wife he is survived by two brothers, Galen (Marie) Burkholder of Landisville, and Dale (Thelma) Burkholder of Leola; four sisters, Jeanette (Calvin) Sauder of Reinholds, Brenda (Dave) Harnish of Landisville, Doris (Dean) Sauder of Lancaster, and Darlene (Randy) Blank of East Earl; and 18 nieces and nephews.
Ron was a graduate of Garden Spot High School ’72, and Geneva College ’76, where he majored in Economics and Business Administration. In college he was honored for excellence in academics, leadership, and service and was the co-captain of the soccer team. Ron had a keen interest in politics, sports, and world affairs. He served on the Harrisburg School Board, worked for Lancaster Newspapers, Lancaster Parks and Recreation, Farmland Preserve, Way Messenger Service, and managed rental properties.
