Rosalind Faye Bacon

Rosalind Faye Bacon, 64, of Leola, died at home unexpectedly on Monday, March 12, 2012. A Leola resident since 1977, she is survived by her husband, Richard W. Bacon, M.D., with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elliott David and Anne (Schwartz) Friedman. Rosalind received an M.B.A. from Syracuse University as well as a B.S. in Mathematics. She worked for Mutual of New York, and had taught at Millersville University. More recently, she had worked as a tax preparer and was a Federal Enrolled Agent. She enjoyed many types of dance including Middle Eastern. She volunteered at the Leola Library and was active with a book club. She served six years on the Conestoga Valley School Board and on the Wellness Committee. She also enjoyed yoga and gardening. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Leah C. Bacon, married to Gregg Frey, of Lancaster, Katie L. Bacon, married to Ed Minarsch, of Annapolis, MD, and Andrea G. Bacon of Lancaster, PA, as well as a grandson Nathaniel Frey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2 PM at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Linda Berger as celebrant. Friends will be received following the memorial service.
