Roy W. Martin

Roy W. Martin, 75, of Morgantown, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Bryan Medical Center, Lincoln, NE after being stricken while driving his truck in Nebraska. His wife of 43 years, Dorothy (Kurtz) Martin survives.

Born in Bareville, he was the son of the late Christian and Grace (Weaver) Martin.

Roy was a self-employed truck driver and a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church. He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. He also liked vintage muscle cars and was a NASCAR fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Rondy married to Beth (Franks) Martin, Eustis, FL and Heidi Martin, Oglala, SD; seven grandchildren: Cody, Chad, Cayla, Cassandra, Carly, Cade, Cierra; and 12 siblings: Harold married to Bertha Martin, Marietta; Florence married to Abe Faus, Lebanon; Luke married to Kathy Martin, Landisville; John married to Jane Martin, Greenville, SC; Laura married to David Hertle, Omaha, NE; Galen married to Louise Martin, Ephrata; Clyde married to Doris Martin, Lititz; Pearl married to Jerry Brazier, Edinburg, TX; Lloyd married to Shirley Martin, Canby, OR; Willis married to Carol Martin, Jericho, NY; Sanford married to Mae Martin, Ephrata; Clair married to Diane Martin, Ephrata.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Esther Martin.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown with Pastor Robert Petersheim officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Oglala Re*creation and Worship Center, P. O.
