Roy R Mentzer

Roy R. Mentzer, 76, of New Holland, died Thursday, October 25, 2018 in a farming accident at his home. His wife of 9 years, Miriam M. (Bowman) Mentzer survives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne C. (Shenk) Mentzer in 2007.

Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Ellis and Ruth (Ranck) Mentzer.

Roy was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed beekeeping, raising German Shepherds and tinkering.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jon S. married to Pamela (Wright) Mentzer, New Holland and Joy L. married to Derrick S. Garman, Davenport, FL, seven grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, a sister Mary married to Gene Lowery, New Holland four step-children: Joey married to Chris Sauder, Cindy Sauder, Kent married to Lori Sauder, Tricia married to Jonathan Kissel and nine step-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Faye L. Gianensin and two grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 – 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Worship Center Building Fund, address above.
