Ruby H. Evans

Ruby H. Evans, 91, formerly of New Holland, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Fairmount Home.

Born November 5, 1924 in New Holland, she was a daughter of the late John and Ella (Parmer) Hillard.

Ruby was a graduate of New Holland High School, Class of 1942. She also earned a Registered Nurse diploma from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1947. She worked as a medical/surgical nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh for 20 years.

She is survived by two children: James Evans of New Holland and Ann Whitman of Pittsburgh; a sister, June Witmer of New Holland; 7 grandchildren: Laura Whitman, Emily Purvis, M.D., Elizabeth Raines, Ann Whitman, Ana Rodriguez, Carlos Roderiguez, and Tony Roderiguez; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Evans, and 5 siblings: Anna Martin, Irma Talbot, J. Marlin Hillard, Edwin Hillard, and Marion Snader.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11 AM at Ranck’s United Methodist Church, 700 Rancks Church Road, New Holland, PA 17557 with Kevin Readman officiating. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
