Rudolph Harvey Leitgeb

Rudolph (Rudy) H. Leitgeb, 81, of New Holland, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He passed peacefully at home with his wife of 59 years, Dolores Ann (Long) Leitgeb.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Josephine (Shrei) Leitgeb. He lived his childhood in Allentown, relocating to Upper Macungie Township after he and Dolores married.

Rudy graduated from General Electric’s four year apprenticeship program for tool and die making in 1957. He worked as a tool and die maker for years, later becoming the Allentown plant’s tooling & procurement engineer.

After 32 years with GE and a sale of the business to Black & Decker, he and his wife relocated to Asheboro, NC with B&D where he continued as the tooling engineer for the next 13 years. Post retirement, they returned to Pennsylvania settling in New Holland.

He attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Reading. He and Dolores were involved in various Bible Studies in NC and PA. He loved the ocean and took numerous trips to Myrtle Beach, NC with family and friends. Rudy also enjoyed baseball and listening to music. He had served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1958 to 1966.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Keith (Cheryl) of Palatine, IL and Brian (Michele) of New Ringgold, PA; three grandchildren, LeighAnn (Andrew) Mount of Birmingham AL, Todd Leitgeb of Houston, TX and Joshua Leitgeb of New Ringgold; and a brother Roland of Bethlehem.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11:30 am at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 East Main St., New Holland, PA with the Rev. Ralph Chapin officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment in Petra Memorial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
