Rufus M. Oberholtzer, 91, of New Holland, went to meet his Maker, August 30, 2024, two weeks after suffering a stroke.
He was married to Sarah W. Horning Oberholtzer for 68 years. Born in Upper Leacock Township on March 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Noah L. and Emma G. Martin Oberholtzer.
A farmer most of his life, he was also employed at Sensenig Feed Mill in his later years. Rufus was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Emma Sue Martin and Mary Ella Oberholtzer both of New Holland; a son-in-law, Lester husband of Martha Nolt of Lewisburg; 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren; three brothers, Noah husband of Lena Oberholtzer, Allen husband of Lucy Oberholtzer, and Elmer husband of Ruth Oberholtzer; two sisters, Susie Leid and Ella wife of Wayne Nolt; and three sister-in-laws, Alta, Eva and Anna Oberholtzer. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Mae Nolt, an infant daughter, Linda Lou; two grandchildren, brothers, Amos, Ephraim, Titus and Jacob Oberholtzer; a brother-in-law, Norman Leid, and a son-in-law, David Martin.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, at 9:30 A.M. at the Weaverland Mennonite Church, 1120 Weaverland Road, East Earl, PA with Bishop Marvin Nolt officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held at the late home on Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. and 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Arrangements by the Groff High Funeral Home, New Holland, PA
