Russell Wallace, 81, of 103 W. Conestoga St., New Holland, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Ephrata Manor. His wife of 58 years, Mary Rebecca (Fake) Wallace, survives.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Erma R. Buzzard and Lester G. Wallace.
Russell retired in 1991 from Ford New Holland after 32 years as a coil line operator in the Press and Shear Department.
He was a member of St. John Center Lutheran Church and the Beartown Sportman’s Club. He was a former member of Liberty Fire Company, now Garden Spot Fire Rescue and the Buck-I Hunting Club in Potter County. He enjoyed hunting and Bluegrass music.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Paul L. married to Kristi (Hillegass) Wallace, New Holland; Steven R. married to Evelyn (Kennel) Wallace, New Holland; Diane R. Ament, New Holland; four grandchildren: Matthew K. Ament, Kimberly R. Wallace, Nathan R. Wallace, Jesse R. Ament; a sister Shirley married to Leon Shirk, East Earl and a brother Clyde R. “Bill†Buzzard, New Holland.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman S. Buzzard.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ephrata Manor for the loving care they provided to Russell while he resided there.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at St. John Center Lutheran Church, 599 Reading Rd., East Earl, PA 17519 with Pastor Robert Kramer officiating. Interment will be in Center Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland and at the church on Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
