Russell H. Yost

Russell H. Yost, 93, of New Holland, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Ruth J. Staller Yost who died in July 2018. Born in Schuykill Haven, PA he was the son of the late Arno C. and Verna R. Achenbach Yost.

Russell retired from the Elanco School District in 1993 where he had taught History for 37 years. He received his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees from Franklin and Marshall College and served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of St. Stephen Reformed Church in New Holland. For 25 years, Russell was the snack bar manager of the New Holland Community Memorial Park. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Earl Lodge 413 in New Holland. His interests included railroading and traveling throughout the United States and Canada.

According to Russell he was “The Last of the Line” and there are no surviving relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, at 2:00 P.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St, New Holland, PA with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Witmer officiating. Interment in the St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Yost’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557.
