Ruth Ann Hurst

Ruth Ann Hurst, 81, of Ephrata, formerly of Bowmansville, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy. She was married for 16 years to Mervin J. Hurst, who survives.

Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Edna (Gerlach) Kreider.

Ruth Ann was employed in the deli at Yoder’s Market for a number of years. She enjoyed birdwatching, listening to gospel music such as the Gaither’s, animals, and outdoor activities including biking.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Debra married to Kevin Mannix, Franklin, TN, Jean married to Kenneth Hartman, Denver, and Audrey Martin, New Holland, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step children: Lisa married to Scott Hurst, Terre Hill, Brian married to Diane Hurst, Birdsboro, Randi married to Angela Hurst, Narvon, Douglas married to Angela Hurst, Birmingham, AL, nine step-grandchildren, one step great grandson. Also, two sisters: Jean Musser, Brethren Village and Theda Neff, Pleasant View.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl I. Martin in 2004, a brother Floyd Kreider, and a step-granddaughter, Amber Martin.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Church, 1194 Reading Rd., Bowmansville with Pastor Jonathan Yoder officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment will be private in Bridgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.
