Ruth S. Bowman

Ruth S. Bowman, 91, of 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Landis Homes. Her husband of 69 years, Henry S. Bowman predeceased her.

Born in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Annie (Yoder) Stoltzfus.

Ruth was known for her gracious hospitality. She was a loving wife and mother; she realized the value of a good education and encouraged all her children in that area. She enjoyed quilting and reading, having read several books a week until recently. She was a member of Erisman Mennonite Church.

Surviving are six children: Violet Sears, Greenwood, DE; Linda married to Robert Zimmerman, Stevens; Dr. John married to Hazel Good, Richmond, VA; Henry, Jr. married to Sharon Brandt, Manheim; Carol married to James Miller, Palmyra; Helen married to Mike Dabbs, Denver; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Martha Bartel, Salinda Weber, Orpha King; a brother, Titus Stoltzfus; also a dearly loved former fresh air child, Joanne Carpenter Green.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jane Bowman, a sister Nancy Byler and a brother David Y. Stoltzfus.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz. Interment will be in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery.
