Ruth Elizabeth (Snader) Zimmerman, 92, went home to be with the LORD on March 18, 2013 at Landis Homes in Lititz after a short illness. Born in Narvon she was the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Sarah A. Snader. She was married to her husband John M. Zimmerman for 69 years who pre-deceased her on January 13, 2013.
Ruth is survived by her four sons, J. Paul and wife Jeanine, Los Alamitos, CA., Donald and wife Jane, Lewistown, PA, Kenneth and wife Kathy, Long Valley, NJ., Ronald and wife Becky, Leola, PA.; seven grandchildren: Carla Sheffield and Companion Charles Hackman, D. Gene and Companion Annette Nauman, Gail and husband David Atkinson, Sarah, Kevin and wife Catania, Jill and husband Ryan Boley and Ryan and wife Stephanie; six great grandchildren: Lindsay Sheffield, Dean, Grant and Gavin Atkinson, Luca and Caroline Boley; one great, great grandchild: Aydnn Sheffield. Ruth was one of nine children and is survived by her sisters Anna Mae and Mary Snader, and her brothers Isaac and Lester Snader. She was predeceased by her brothers Paul, Daniel, Titus and Noah Snader and her daughter-in law Freda Zimmerman
Ruth will be remembered as a quiet, humble homemaker who loved her LORD, her husband and her family. She loved to cook and be surrounded by the family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to the family hunting camp in Tamarack, Clinton Co. and touring on trips with the historical society. Ruth loved flowers and was especially fond of caring for African Violets. She attended Churchtown Mennonite Church and was a member of Goodville Mennonite Church. Ruth moved with her husband to Landis Homes in Lititz in 1995. She will be greatly missed by her family.
A viewing will be held at The West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes on Friday, March 22nd from 6:00-8:00pm. A pre-funeral viewing will be held at the Chapel on Saturday, March 23rd at 10am with a funeral service following at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Caring Fund at Landis Homes 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA. 17543. Interment will be held at Goodville Mennonite Church, Rt. 23, Goodville, PA., following the service at Landis Homes. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of the arrangements.
