Ruth Elizabeth (Collins) Golas, 92, formerly of Hinkletown, passed away peacefully at the Mennonite Home, with her family by her side on November 9, 2023.
Born in Honey Brook, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Clara (Bair) Collins.
She was the loving wife of the late Anthony “Tony” G. Golas, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage until the time of his passing in 2012.
Ruth attended New Holland High School and retired from SLC Fashions in Blue Ball where she worked for 27 years. She was a member of Saint Stephen Reformed Church. She was a breast cancer survivor. Her favorite color was purple---so much so that she would even color her hair purple every year for Halloween. She loved cherry Cokes which she enjoyed right up until she passed. She was an avid collector of antiques, carnival glass, dishware, toys and more. She loved going to flea markets, auctions, and garage sales. Ruth enjoyed running around town and eating out with her friends and her husband. She had a love for all animals and had a special bond with her chihuahuas and dalmatians.
Ruth was warmhearted, kind, and caring. She could converse with anyone she met. She cherished her relationships with family, friends, and neighbors and stayed in contact with them over the years. She talked with her longest and closest friends daily. These lasting friendships were beloved childhood friends and even her high school Home Economics teacher.
Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Tina G. Stout (W. Raiford) of Lancaster, and two grandsons: W. Bradley Stout of Frisco, CO, and Michael A. Stout (Courtney) of Stewartstown, PA.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main Street, New Holland PA 17557. There will be a time of visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will be held in Saint Stephen Reformed Church Cemetery where Ruth will be buried beside her loving husband.
Her family would like to thank everyone who took good care of her and made her feel comfortable at the Mennonite Home plus those working with Masonic Hospice Care.
