Ruth Wenger Landis Meck, 90, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, entered into God’s rest on Saturday, June 20, 2026. She was the wife of the late Jay A. Meck who died December 27, 2003.
Born July 31, 1935, in East Lampeter Twp., she was the daughter of the late Christian D. and Grace Wenger Landis. Ruth was a graduate of the former East Lampeter High School, class of 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, January 6, 1954. She was a member of the former Kinzer Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in choral groups. She was also a member of the Community Church at Garden Spot Village, serving as Prayer Minister and encourager.
Enjoyment was found in gardening, canning and freezing vegetables, travel to Florida in the winter and assisting her husband in Meck Taxi, transporting folks from Canada to Florida and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, visiting many states. Hobbies were singing, Bible study, crochet, and visiting with friends and loving family. She was a woman of prayer and prayed for family and friends daily. In all that is good in the lives of those who were touched, may the glory go to God!
Surviving are two sons, J. Robert, husband of Dawn (Garber) Meck, Leola and John D. husband of Jane (Eby) Meck, Kinzers, eight grandchildren, Jeanette Meck, Joel (Alicia) Meck, Lauren (Thomas) McIntire, Sheila Meck, Rachel (Joshua) Nyce and Isaac (Valerie) Meck, Lisa (Kevin) Engel and Julie (Dan) Umstead. Also, 16 great grandchildren, Erica, Jared, Kristina and Tyler Engle, Kole, Silas and Jordyn Umstead, Alivia, Mia, and Carter Meck, Jackson, Theo, Millie, and Rylee McIntire, Malia and Noah Nyce, twin sisters Martha widow of John Stoner, Ephrata and Mary wife of Edwin Miller, Landisville and a brother David W. husband of Cindy Landis, Conestoga.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ray Nelson Meck in 1974, a grandson Joshua Meck in 1994, and two brothers, Earl W. Landis and Christian W. Landis.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private in Kinzers Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave. New Holland, PA 17557.
