Samuel W. Hurst, 75, of East Earl, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Ephrata Community Hospital.
Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Abraham M. and Mary H. (Weaver) Hurst. He was married to Irene O. (Martin) Hurst.
He was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference and owned and operated Hurst’s Watch and Clock Repair at his home.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Grace M. Hurst at home, Abraham M., married to Fern (Martin) Hurst of Riceville, IA, Ida M., married to Ivan M. Reiff of Narvon, and Paul M., married to Thelma (Good) Hurst of Narvon; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann, married to Ernest Groff of Stevens; a sister-in-law, Nora Hurst of Denver; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Sensenig of Denver.
Preceding him in death is a granddaughter, Rachel M. Hurst; two sisters, Esther Nelson, and Margaret Sensenig; and two brothers, Raymond and Moses Hurst.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 8:45 am at the Martindale Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata with further services at 9:30 am at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church with the Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday at the Martindale Fellowship Center from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers.
