Samuel A. Whirt

Samuel A. Whirt, 60, of New Holland, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

Born in Paradise, he was the son of the late Larry and Kathrine (Spade) Whirt, and the husband of Jacqueline (Weller) Whirt.

He worked as a Market Driver for the Amish and also a Pallet Repairman for Susquehanna Pallets.

He was a member of the Paradise Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching baseball, and mostly spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Warren Whirt of New Holland, Megan, married to Ryan Link of East Earl, Amanda Whirt of New Holland, Samantha Beiler of Blue Ball, Cody Whirt of New Holland, and Amber Whirt of New Holland; three other children by a previous marriage; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister, John, married to Cindy Whirt of Willow Street, Ruth Iehle of Leola, and Larry, married to Christina Whirt of Millersville.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 22 at 2 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland, with Chaplain Robert F. Granzow officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm. To send the family online condolences visit us at www.groffeckenroth.com.
