Sarah T. Hurst

Sarah T. “Betty” Hurst, 83, of East Earl, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin L. Hurst in 1991.

Born in Chester Springs, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mabel (Schwartz) White.

Betty was a member of St. John Center Lutheran Church. She was passionate about knitting, both for the church women’s group and for others.

Surviving are three sons: Glen married to Carol Taylor, Morgantown, Craig married to Angie Taylor, East Earl, Scott Taylor and fiancée Caroline Lawson, East Earl, a stepson Douglas Hurst, East Earl, eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and three siblings: Joan Serven, Washington state, Elmer White and James White, both of Elverson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Corene Hughes and a step-son, Richard Hurst.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at St. John Center Lutheran Church, 599 Reading Road, East Earl, PA 17519. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers. If desired, memorials may be sent to St. John Center Lutheran Church.
