Sherrill G. Martin

Sherrill G. Martin, 67, of Reading Road, East Earl, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 2014, at home following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband Kenneth E. Martin with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.

A daughter of the late Elmer K. and Rebecca (Kennel) Beiler, she had lived in East Earl since 1970. She was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church where she had been Librarian until recently, as well as previously teaching Sunday School.

Sherrill was a 1964 graduate of L.M.S. and a L.P.N. graduate of Lancaster School of Nursing, having worked briefly at Jennersville Hospital. She later worked parttime for Conestoga Wood Specialties for 25 years.

She enjoyed walking, gardening, and traveling but her greatest passion for the past 18 years was the countless hours she invested into the lives of her eight grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons, Kent M., married to Cindy (Martin) Martin of Mohnton, Devon W., married to Amy S. (Martin) Martin of Newmanstown, and Delayne G. Martin of Stevens, eight grandchildren, and her sisters Joy Horst, Reinholds, Sue, married to Tim Fisher, Lancaster, and J. Marlene Beiler of Lancaster, and her brother E. Kenneth, married to Judy (Thompson) Beiler.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother Marlin.

Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church, East Earl, with Pastors Don Weaver, Duane Weber and Nevin Hurst officiating. Please note there will be not be any visitation time prior to the service on Tuesday. A viewing will be held on Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Church.
