Shirley A. (Longenecker) Ruhl, 87, of Mohnton, passed away on August 9, 2024 at Reading Hospital.
Born in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Sara (Koons) Longenecker.
She was the wife of Richard L. Ruhl, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.
Shirley was a graduate of Annville High School and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member of the Mae-Bea’s making crafts for their annual Christmas bazaar. She was employed by Graco for 20 years as an assembler. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds and vacationing at “deer camp” in Potter County. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband and her sons, Richard “Rick” husband of Jean Ruhl of Mohnton and Robert “Bob” L. Ruhl significant other of Carol Clouse of Eureka, MT, grandchildren, Jayne wife of Nate Klusewitz, Emily Ruhl wife of Chris Grasso, Molly Ruhl, Nicole Van Art wife of Eric Hohl and Christie wife of Billy MacDonald, great grandchildren, Kieran MacDonald and Jackson Klusewitz. Also surviving are two brothers, Lester “Skip” Longenecker Jr. and Robert “Bob” Longenecker.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Van Art and brothers, Barry Longenecker and Richard Longenecker.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Harmony United Methodist Church, 740 Harmony Road, Morgantown PA 19543. A time of visitation will follow the service. A private interment will be held in Robeson Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harmony United Methodist Church at the address above or to Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, PO Box 186, Pasadena, MD 21123.
C. Stanley Eckenroth Home for Funerals in Terre Hill is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
