Simone Francisca Kruis

Simone Francisca "Fran" Kruis, 72, of New Holland, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2024. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, she was the daughter of the late Philippe Pierre Robert Kruis and Albertine Corrie (Ort) Kruis.

Simone moved to Staten Island in 1957, where she grew up and graduated from St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School in 1970. In 1974, she relocated to the Poconos and spent the remainder of her life in Pennsylvania. Simone earned a bachelor’s degree in abnormal psychology and worked as a CNA. She also enjoyed her time as a ski instructor at Camelback Resort.

Her love for animals and nature, particularly tropical climates, was evident throughout her life. Bella, her faithful Pomeranian companion, brought her immense joy. In her earlier years, Simone enjoyed traveling and meticulously documented her trips through photo journals, visiting friends and family along the way.

Simone is survived by her daughters: Kristie (Feola) Schaffer and her husband Scott Schaffer, and Dr. Erica Feola, DHSc; her granddaughter, Dr. Elisabeth Schaffer, OD; and her sister, Monique Kruis.

In addition to her parents, Simone was preceded in death by her twin sister, Elisabeth Maria Kruis.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
