Stanley G. Simmons

Stanley G. Simmons, 83, of 5591 Meadville Rd., Gap, died Saturday, April 20 at his home.


Born in Salisbury Twp., he was the son of the late Harland and Edna (Clark) Simmons.


Stanley was a mason for many years with the William Murry Construction Co., Lancaster.


He was a member of the Mt. Airy E. C. Church, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid Phillies fan.


During the Korean War, he served in the Army, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.


Surviving is a daughter; Beverly married to Ralph Herr, Ephrata; two grandsons; a sister Charlotte Weaver, Ephrata and a brother Ted married to Chung Simmons, Crestview, FL.


He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Simmons and two sisters, Ruth Simmons and Eleanor Sprecher.


His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 1 p.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Bruce Willier officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Airy E. C. Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Groff-High on Wednesday from Noon – 1 p.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to Mt. Airy E. C. Church, c/o Pastor Willier, 52 N. Hershey Ave., Leola, PA 17540.
