Sterling Hartman

Sterling "Sonny" Hartman Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in loving care at Zerbe Sister's Nursing Center in Narvon, Pennsylvania.

He was born March 27, 1936 in Hunlock Creek, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania to parents Sterling D. and Elizabeth (Lewis) Hartman. Sonny attended Harper High School. He married Mary Virtue on June, 16, 1956, and together they raised two children. Sonny and Mary recently celebrated 60 years of steadfast and faithful devotion to one another.

Sonny retired after dedicating 37 years as a group foreman in the bridge division at G A & F C Wagman. Sonny and Mary enjoyed collecting and selling antiques together, and opened Country Store Antiques in Swartzville.

Left to honor Sonny are his two children, Michael (Deborah) Hartman, and Jennifer (Hartman) Roy; and five grandchildren: Kelsey Hartman-Messersmith, Christen Hartman, Amanda Roy, Lauren Hartman and David Roy.

Sonny will be remembered fondly as a loving, caring and dutiful husband, father and grandfather. He treasured time spent with his family, and quietly fostered a sense of gratitude and contentedness in those around him.
