Velva K. Waldrop

Velva K. (Kelley) Waldrop, 85, of New Holland, passed away on July 20, 2026 at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital.

Born in White House, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Berthal (Frey) Kelley.

She was the wife of the late Peter N. Waldrop, with whom she met at the former Sperry New Holland and shared 47 years of marriage until the time of his passing on September 19, 2012.

She worked in childcare for over twenty years as a preschool teacher at Kennett Square Preschool and a caregiver at Kendal-Crosslands Communities. She previously attended Grace Church Ephrata and was a devoted Christian who spent every morning reading her devotions and bible. She enjoyed word and jigsaw puzzles, reading, cooking and spending summers at the shore in New Jersey. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats.

She was a mother that was selfless, caring and honest person, who always said how lucky she was to have adopted her wonderful children, which was one of the happiest days of her life. She was a very hard worker, who loved hard and never failed to give her children unconditional love, encourage them and lift them up when they need it the most. Her children couldn’t have wanted anything more in a mother and they feel as though they are the luckiest people in the world to have a mother like her. She will be missed dearly and will always be in their thoughts.

Velva is survived her daughter, Mary E. Coleman, her niece, Barbara Dorsey and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael T. Waldrop.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E Main Street, New Holland PA 17557. A Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service.
