Verna H. Martin

Verna H. Martin, 83, of Fleetwood, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Born May 29, 1930 in Fivepointville, she was the daughter of the late Howard Z. and Lizzie B. (Horning) Good. She was married 62 years the day she died to Warren W. Martin.

Verna was a homemaker and a member of the Alsace Christian Fellowship in Temple. She enjoyed participating in the Oley Mennonite Sewing Circle.

Surviving in addition to her husband are six children, Susan, married to Tim Gierschick of Oley, Naomi, married to Gerald Miller of Shipshewana, IN, Joann, married to Emanuel Miller of Lititz, Linford Martin, married to Chloe Grasse of Greencastle, Maietta, married to Jeff Ludwig of Fleetwood, and Michael, married to Kim (Martin) Martin of Greencastle; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Sarah Shultz of Strasburg, Esther, married to Raymond Martin of Ephrata, Kathryn, married to Ray Martin of New Holland, Arthur, married to Freda Good of Ephrata, Susie, married to Leroy Gehman of Reinholds, Harriet, married to Marlin Eberly of Denver, Helen, married to Earl Gehman of Mohnton, Parke, married to Lou Ann Good of Lititz, and Phebe, married to Earle Zimmerman of Lebanon.

Preceding her in death are five brothers, six sisters, and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10 am at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl with the Reverends Eugene Zimmerman, James Ralph, and Daniel Good officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and on Thursday from 9-10 am.
