Virginia (Ginny) Eckert- Hassinger, 92, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully with family on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA. Ginny was born in Philadelphia to her late parents, Melvin L. and Mildred (Scheetz) Feroe. Her first husband, Robert K. Eckert, passed away in1975, and her second husband, Robert Hassinger, passed away in 2016.
Ginny was a graduate of Brown University. Ginny loved her family deeply and cared for them with immense pride. In her spare time, she was a member of the Lancaster Junior League, a member of AAUW, the Towne Club, Meals on Wheels of Lancaster County, and served on the board of Lancaster County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. She was also an active leader in her children’s brownie and cub scout troops and even danced in the Lancaster Follies.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Ginger E. Robertson and her husband John, of Bullhead City, AZ, nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Melvin L. Feroe, Jr. and his wife Lil.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her children, Robert K. Eckert, Jr., and Nancy L. Eckert and her grandson Alan Cherkin, Jr.
Ginny’s Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, October 1, 2026, beginning at 11:00AM at Sell Chapel, 200 Freemason Drive, Elizabethtown, PA. Following the service, there will be an inurnment at Mt. Tunnel in Elizabethtown. On Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00AM, there will be another inurnment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions in honor of Ginny be made to; GiGi’s Playhouse, 1535 West Warm Springs Road, Suite 201, Henderson, NV 89014, in honor of her great-granddaughter Brooke V. Robertson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
