Virginia I. Oliver

Virginia I. Oliver, 84, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 after a brief illness at Conestoga View in Lancaster.

Born in Orange, VA, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Doris (Burdick) Wassmann. She attended New Holland Elementary and was a graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton, Conn. In 1947. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting, and listening to classical music.

Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she enjoyed attending the R.C.I.A. and the Sunshine Club.

She is survived by four daughters, Katharine, married to Larry Klein of Mifflin, Elaine Holmes and her companion Jeff Meleizen of Leola, Virginia, married to Scott McAndrews of Ephrata, and Judy Oliver of Lancaster; two sons, Nazarro, married to Gail Oliver of Avoca, and Donald, married to Christie Oliver of New Holland; eight grandchildren, Danielle Klein Abramo, Christian Klein, Stephen Klein, Jeremy Holmes, Nichole Oliveri, John Oliveri, Stephanie McAndrews, and Alicia Oliver Lando; and three great grandchildren, Damon, Eric, and Kaylee Lando.

Preceding her in death are three brothers, Felix, Milton, and Donald Wassmann; and a grandson, Corey McAndrews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water St., New Holland, PA 17557 on Saturday, March 22 at 10 am with Fr. Pang J.S. Tcheou as celebrant. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at the Beck Funeral Home, 127 E. Main St., New Holland and on Saturday from 9-10 am at the Church. A rosary will be said on Friday at 7:30 pm at the Beck Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Building Fund, (address above).
