Virginia Wagner

Virginia “Ginny” Wagner, 74, of Lititz passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mt. Joy after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Calvin and Eleanor Young and the wife of Jack Wagner for 55 years.

In the past, she volunteered as co-chair of the New Holland Baby Parade for 10 years, helped a friend start the Fun Fair at Luther Acres, and was a member of The Friend of Luther Acres Executive Committee for many years. She and a friend started the first Country Fair at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland, where she was a member. She enjoyed taking classes in basket making, rug braiding, sewing, bridge, and many work related classes for CNH from where she retired. She also played pinochle.

She owned a greeting card distributorship for several years. Even though they always told her that she tries to put 6 lb in a 5 lb bag, the most important thing was the time she spent with the family at the beach and going to their activities since she felt being a wife, mother and grandmother were the most important things to her. She felt blessed with a fine family. The times she could spend talking and making others chuckle going through treatment of some type were therapeutic to her also.

She wants to give a special thanks to her Doctor and staff at the Hematology/Oncology Specialists for many years of caring treatment.

In addition to her husband, John “Jack,” she is survived by two daughters, Anne Stuart (Daniel), Beth Rice (Dominic); three grandchildren, Megan Stuart, Patrick Rice, and Matthew Rice; a sister, Rebecca Horst (Roy); a niece and nephew; and a wonderful dog, Teddy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Stuart; and a sister, Lynn Karpo.

A memorial service will be held at Luther Acres, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, PA 17543 in the Community Room on Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
