Walter Alfred Davis

Walter Alfred “Pete” Davis, Jr., 90, of Ephrata, formerly of Fivepointville, joined the love of his life on Saturday, May 24, 2014 after a brief illness at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Cairo, WV the son of the late Walter A., Sr. and Della Edith (Robinson) Hays Davis. His wife, Florence B. (Horton) Davis, died Jan. 30, 2005.

Pete graduated from Harrisville High School, Harrisville, WV. He was the office manager for 16 years for J. Roy Wise and later retired after 4 years with Brubacher Excavating.

He was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church of Ephrata where he served as an elder and as treasurer. He enjoyed amateur radio and was a member of the Ephrata American Legion, the National VFW, and the PCSA, Patrol Craft Sailors Association.

During WWII he served in the US Navy as a Radioman 2nd class and was at Normandy on D-Day.

Surviving are six children, Diana Law of Lancaster, Rodney E. Davis of Fresno, CA, Coletti, married to Joe Lee of Ephrata, Cheryl Romberger of Ephrata, Darwin, married to Stacey of Ephrata, Robb, married to Nancy of Davis, CA; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step great-great grandchildren; five half-sisters, Merlene Ruddleson of Parkersburg, WV, Mary Sue Kerns of New Philadelphia, OH, Helen Dickson of Mineral Wells, WV, Karen “Susie” Goodacre of Silver Spring, MD, and Frances Fought of Vienna, WV; and a half brother, Jim Davis of New Dennison, OH.

Preceding him in death is his step mother, Edna “Dale” Davis; three brothers, Thomas Edward, Ralph Owen, and Charles Arthur Davis; and two half-sisters, Wanda Woronick, and Phyllis Smith; and a step brother, Sharren Morris.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 9 at 6 pm at the Bible Fellowship Church of Ephrata, 491 Peach Road, Ephrata, PA with the Reverend Daniel Allen officiating. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. If desired memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
