Walter N. Hurst

Walter N. Hurst, 81, of Morgantown, passed away at home on Monday, August 10, 2026.

He was the husband of Ida M. Shirk Hurst. Born in Narvon, he was the son of the late Melvin H. and Lydia Ann Nolt Hurst.

Walter was a retired farmer and had also operated a shoe repair business for 25 years. He was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Surviving besides his wife are 10 children, Leroy husband of Ella Leid Hurst of Dundee, NY, Elsie wife of Reuben Sensenig of Brushton, NY, Pauline wife of Lawrence Martin of Dundee, NY, Catherine wife of Edward Horning of Stanley, WI, Naomi Hurst of Morgantown, Ada Mae wife of Samuel Nolt of East Earl, Melvin husband of Linda Weaver Hurst of Morgantown, Marian wife of Norman Zimmerman of Shiloh, OH, Ina Jane of Morgantown, and Marvin husband of Lydia Weaver Hurst of Hopkinsville, KY, a son-in-law, Kenneth Brubacher of Thorp, WI, 69 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 9 siblings, Bertha Sauder of Lewisburg, Martin husband of Mabel Hurst of Lime Spring, IA, Milton husband of Edith Hurst of Penn Yan, NY, Melvin Roy husband of Emma Hurst of Denver, PA, Eva Elizabeth wife of John Zimmerman of Penn Yan, NY, Allen husband of Rebecca Hurst of Stover, MO, Vera wife of Alvin Horning of Penn Yan, NY, James husband of Esther Mae Hurst of Osage, IA, and Annetta wife of Ernest Martin of Penn Yan, NY. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Brubacher, 2 grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Samuel Sauder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 17th at 9:30 A.M. at the Churchtown Mennonite Church, 2207 Main Street, Narvon, PA with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the home of Melvin and Linda Hurst, 387 California Road, Morgantown, PA.
