Wayne W. Martin, 88, of New Holland, formerly of Goodville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Garden Spot Village.
Born in Goodville, he was the son of the late Wayne Sauder and Anna (Witmer) Martin. He was married 69 years on Dec. 31 to Betty (Gehman) Martin.
Wayne owned and operated Goodville Insurance Management in Goodville for many years. He was a lifetime member of Goodville Mennonite Church and served on the board of Teen Challenge of Rehrersburg, Goodville Mutual Casualty Company, and Mennonite Mutual Indemnity.
He had a lifelong interest in computers and technology and volunteered at the Ephrata Re-Uzit refurbishing computers. He also helped bring Goodville Mutual into the digital age. He was earlier a private pilot while working for Goodville Mutual.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Phyllis J. Strickland of Goodville, Donna M., married to Larry Seiler of Auburn, IN, Sandra Jane, married to Donald Wilt of Etters, PA, Wayne Gary, married to Marilyn (Strutchens) Martin of Auburn, AL, Corinne Joan, married to Lamine Diop of Harrisonburg, VA; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is a grandson, Iba Wayne Diop; and three sisters, A. Grace Graybill, Rita Martin, and Evelyn Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 am at Goodville Mennonite Church, 1556 Main St., Goodville, PA with the Reverends Bruce Sauder, Nelson Martin and Kelly Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland from 6-8 pm and on Sunday at the Church from 9-10 am.
